Somewhere somehow, somebody (like you & me) must have wondered about the “correct-ness” of eating food that has been dropped.
Excuses Reasons that I have come across range from:
“I just mopped the floor! It’s clean!”
“No it didn’t drop…it bounced back.”
“It fell on the cleanest spot on the floor.”
My personal favorite: “I thought it needed a bit more flavoring.” (O.o)
You’ll be surprised that reactions actually get stronger when people are eating outrageous expensive fine foods, like Foie Gras, Caviar, Truffle, Birds’ Nest etc..
So I think this diagram might pretty much help you solve this dilemma.
Happy eating.

I’ve always been interested in working in North Asia, particularly in Japan, Korea or Taiwan. One of the easiest options after college was to be an English Teacher there but then the prospects after that was not exactly what I wanted. Plus, my strictly chinese parents would probably say that they didn’t put me through college to teach English.
Anyways, that idea has been sitting at the back of the burner for a bit while work was getting busier - especially with the current job.
Then Taipei comes knocking.
Working out of Taipei would be interesting. I’ll actually get to be a part of their daily stories and be in the midst of the hustle & bustle of the city. This is where reading mangas when I was younger pays off…they were written in traditional characters.
Ah, I don’t even want to get started about how excited I am about the beef noodles. Yums.
Hello Taiwan.
Taipei has some great food, especially when it comes to street food. I went to Shilin last weekend but didn’t get a chance to really capture the food. I’ll check it out again and see what I missed out.
Anyways, this has got to be one of my fav snacks in Taipei - the red bean filling is amazing. Back in college I remember driving to Chinatown in Addison, Dallas and there would is an old Taiwanese man that sells red bean, peanut & custard pancakes on the weekend. It would be a ritual for me to have one whenever I do my grocery shopping.
These pictures are making me crave for a fresh baked pancake right now!
Food in Taiwan has been yums and obviously, I have been searching around on the weekends for omnomnoms that I like. The thing is, when the food comes, I forget to stop, drop & roll pause and take a picture.
Before I know it, it’s all gone.
BUT wait! I did remember to restrain myself and take some shots - granted some of them are pictures of seconds!
Here are some of my fav food shots.

Grilled Crab Legs - the sweetness of the succulent crab meat fills my mouth with the taste of the sea. No kidding.
Shrimp Cone - Basically it’s very fresh shrimp flash fried with seasoning and chopped celery and put in a cone. Yes - it is an ice cream cone. First, the squeeze some mayo in it, and then stuff it with shredded, fresh lettuce and then finally, top it off with a very generous portion of the shrimp. Oh, and this is a shot of the 2nd cone as I wolfed the first one down without thinking.

Chirashi-don. The fish is fresh and the slices are generous. You can tell that it has NEVER been frozen before. The salmon and tuna melted in my mouth. I almost fainted from happiness.

Incredibly awesome and fresh bamboo shoots. I am starting to think that I am a Panda. This is one reason why I am SO THANKFUL to be in Taiwan. And it is only NT39 for one whole shoot. (NT$23 = SGD$1) Do your math.

Taiwanese style Okonomiyaki - nothing like pork belly for the flavor and omph! And the egg yolk is done to perfection that is it still a little runny but cooked when you cut into it.

Herbal Pork Rib Soup - I really didn’t care much about the pork ribs but the soup is simply amazing. Very nourishing. I was surprised that the ribs were achingly tender that a gentle probe of my chopsticks separated meat from bone. And the flavor…incredible.

Ika (squid) Sashimi - Now, I usually do not order ika because of countless disappointments - even in Japan. Anyhoo - I was at this hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant and ordered omakase. This was one of the courses which the chef proudly placed in front of me. You can see from the picture that he has scored the flesh very evenly and that is really what makes it a whole lot better. The taste, texture and flavor is now forever etched in my brains and tastebuds. Plus, the fact that I could watch the chef at work, preparing my food heightened my sense of anticipation as well.
So there - here are some of my fav food shots. I hope you like some of the foods and let me know what you think - and feel free to ask questions if you have any on the foods I shot. (there is a ask me link you can click on the right)
I think I am hungry again. Omnomnom.
I haven’t posted food pictures in a while but I was kind busy/lazy to upload them. I really should before they start to accumulate into a mountain.
Plus, I haven’t really been out & about. When the weather turns cooler, maybe I will head up to the teahouse up in the mountain.
But anyways, here’s some for now.
